Mia DeWeese has been dancing since she was 3 years old. In her pre-professional career, she trained under the direction of Shane Carpenter at Infusion Dance in Columbus, Ohio. From 2006-2008 she was a member of the contemporary dance company, Exhale Dance Tribe, based out of Cincinnati, OH, under the direction of Missy Lay Zimmer and Andrew Hubbard. She is featured in the Dance Magazine’s 2008 “Top 25 to Watch” with Exhale Dance Tribe. In 2013, she graduated from Marymount Manhattan College with a BFA in dance with a concentration in Ballet and minor in Business Management. At Marymount, Mia performed in repertoire choreographed by Robert Battle, Katie Langan, Pedro Ruiz, Shen Wei, Mark Morris, Deganit Shemy, Larry Keigwin, Nancy Lushington, Cherice Barton, Lar Lubovitch and Loni Landon, as well as working with various other faculty members and student choreographers. She was a member of the Marymount Manhattan College Dance Company and was also the president of the student organization Soldiers of Hip Hop. In 2011, Mia performed with the Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet Company in their original Cedar Lake 360° Installment where she was selected as a summer intensive participant. She most recently has performed works for the choreographers Ashley Lindsey and Sonya Tayeh.
