Works: Embers of Becoming

Embers of Becoming delves into the bittersweet journey of aging, addressing the weight of human existence and the ongoing process of coming-of-age. The work explores the emotional tension between sorrow and joy, hardship and purpose, while prompting reflection on how we find meaning in life. It also celebrates the beauty within darker moments, highlighting unexpected joy, connection, and laughter that emerge through grief and loss as we grow older.

The sound score, (can be played live or recorded) composed and directed by Naz Karagoz, integrates layers of rhythm, voice, and ambient sound that evolve in dialogue with the choreography, enhancing the emotional and spatial arc of the performance. Embers of Becoming is a social and embodied research practice as well as an artistic one. Our company is committed to creating work that is inclusive, accessible, and responsive. This project continues that commitment by offering space for identity, healing, and transformation to be voiced, honored, and celebrated through dance. It aims to leave behind more than a single performance, planting seeds of connection, empowerment, and collective joy that extend beyond the stage into the communities we engage.
