Support BodyStories: Teresa Fellion & Middlebrook Arts Research + Residency Center through Patreon

This year, we have a two-fold goal – on one hand, we want to further build our fund for future MAR+RC renovations so that we can better serve the artists and organizations that use our retreat space. On the other hand, we want to build up various funds for the BodyStories company, such as scholarships for dancers and travel funds for out-of-state performances, so that we can share our mission without worrying about financial constraints.

  • Build fund for MAR+RC:

      1. The renovation fund will help us build our Jefferson property as the perfect artist retreat space. While we do not have plans for renovations at the moment, we would like to start the process of building the financial support that would assist in our vision of making MAR+RC an ideal space for artistic explorations. We look forward to beginning renovations and furnishings on the lower level including bedrooms, kitchen, artist studio, amenities, bathrooms, and a lounge area. All of these will serve our communities well as we continue to not only use this space to host BodyStories residencies and performances but also serve many groups in need of space for performances, rehearsals, and retreats.

      2. Emergency funds will allow us to build a monetary reserve for unanticipated expenses, ensuring the smooth functioning of operations at MAR+RC.

  • Build BodyStories’ funds:

    1. A scholarship fund will help sponsor students with financial need to attend BodyStories classes, intensives, informal showings, and performance opportunities. We are proud to help members of the community experience and perform dance. We are committed to creating accessible and inclusive art that can be enjoyed by all bodies.

    2. The artist residency fund will allow us to provide low-cost residency space so artists can have the time to develop their work, enhance creativity, and create meaningful movement and dance. At the end of each residency, artists will have the option to share work created during their stay with the local community through an informal showcase.

    3. Travel fund will ensure BodyStories can travel to out-of-state performances.

We hope you will take this time to visit our Patreon and consider subscribing to our $5, $10, or $20 tier. Each tier offers a unique experience with BodyStories. Our lowest tier – Friend of BodyStories – offers behind-the-scenes images of our performances, early ticket access for performances, and become a recipient of our newsletter for all company updates. Our middle tier – Advocate of BodyStories – offers all the benefits of our lowest tier plus links to our recorded Zumba and Yoga classes. Our last tier – Patron of BodyStories – offers all benefits from the two previous tiers in addition to access to live-streamed performances and a special shoutout in our newsletter.

By subscribing to BodyStories’ Patreon account, you can support us to ensure we can continue our mission of creating an accessible space, both within MAR+RC and the broader NYC dance community, that shows dance and movement are for all bodies.
